Smoke On The Water (2026): Gm/115
This is my cover of Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple. Arguably one of the most popular guitar riffs of all time. I never learned how to play it until I undertook this song. I had a lot of fun doing this one. I used a hard pick on my Jazz Bass to get some definition of the bass sounds (I usually play with my fingers) and made up some of my own bass parts. I also learned the organ part and played it distorted like Jon Lord of Deep Purple. He used to play a Hammond B3 through a leslie speaker amplified through Marshall stacks.
I bought this song from JamTrax and used their drum track and vocals. I could hit the vocals myself but I liked their vocals much better.
