Folsom Prison Blues (2025): E/101
Alternate

This is my cover of Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash. He first recorded this in 1955 and it was one of the first "boom chukka chukka" rhythm sections. Luther Perkins was the guitarist who contributed to Cash's early rhythm sound by playing with palm muting and percussive picking. Cash never had a drummer for his first Sun recordings and came up with a way to add percussive sounds by placing a dollar bill under his guitar strings and then strumming percussively. I tried to keep this sounding authentic but did put drums on my cover.
