Drive (2023): Em/125
Alternate

This is my cover of Joe Bonamassa's song Drive. I watch YouTube Premium most nights and often start off with a music video/performance and then let YouTube autoplay things that match. This video came up and I immediately fell in love with the song. It is a 12 bar but without the traditional Blues turnarounds. Trying to pigeon hole this into a particular genre is a waste of time. I am reminded of what my friend Al Doner (RIP) told me once. Al was sitting in on some Sunday jam sessions at a bar in Gastown in Vancouver and between sessions they were discussing all the genres that music was being defined as. An older traveling blues musician was at the table and told the group "Forget trying to define every song as there are only two types of music. Music you like and music you don't like...that is all that matters". That stuck with me.

This song has a mood and sound reminiscent of the great music Robert Plant and Allison Krauss have made with their producer T Bone Burnett. For my friends who say that the last good music was made in the 70's...I have to disagree...good music is being made every day...you just have to look for it.
